Assassin’s Creed: No Subtitles

Do you think the lack of subtitles in Assassin’s Creed hurts the gameplay? While Assassin’s Creed is not a true RPG, it does have RPG elements and most role playing games (such as Bioware’s Mass Effect) offer an option for subtitles. Subtitles are not only for deaf people, but can be beneficial to people who like to get into the story. Sometimes it’s easier to read than to hear, or maybe for some reason you can’t play your game with sound.

A quick Google search revealed that developers said that subtitle was removed due to new game engine and multiple people talking at same time but I think that they’re pretty weak excuses as you could easily program the game to only display subtitle during cut-scenes & important moments.

Of course there are memory logs to display information in case you forget, but those aren’t always helpful. The main purpose for subtitles is so you can better follow the game and enjoy the experience if there is something else going on in the house. This isn’t an action packed game like H3 Online where you don’t need sound. There is a complex story to Assassin’s Creed. Try playing it on mute for a few minutes and see how well you do.

Assassin’s Creed Headed to PC

FYI… we’re still working on the Assassin’s Haven redesign. We’re just waiting for a couple of file transfers and some backend work before we can officially launch anything. We really want this web site to be the number 1 source for Assassin’s Creed fans. We’ll continue to offer Assassins Creed wallpapers, game tips, screenshots, and more.

I just read this morning on Forbes.com that Assassin’s Creed is headed to PC by the end of this quarter. That is great news for fans of the game who do not have a PS3 or Xbox 360. I don’t have a lot of details yet. I’m sure there will be some added features and content that the console games do not have. Once we get more info, I’ll be sure to let you guys know.

Assassin’s Creed Game Score to be Composed by Jesper Kyd

Posted in Assassin's Creed News  by Haven No Comments

Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced the score for the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed video game is being composed by British Academy Award-winner Jesper Kyd. Players will become truly immersed into the mindset of Altair, the game’s main character, and the rich environments of the game through Jesper’s thematic score. The combination of epic orchestral compositions with acoustic, percussion and vocal performances delivers a deeply spiritual aesthetic with Hollywood flair. The rich and melodic palette, created exclusively for Assassin’s Creed, will be discovered by players worldwide this November.

“We listened to many composers before finding the right person for Assassin’s Creed. Jesper Kyd turned out to be the perfect match for the title because he is able to create epic historical pieces fused with both traditional medieval instruments and modern synth sounds” shared Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin’s Creed. “For Assassin’s Creed we wanted the score to capture the gruesome atmosphere of medieval warfare but also be edgy and contemporary. Jesper not only achieved this balance but also underlined the changes in gameplay and pacing in a way that immerses the player even further into the
Assassin’s Creed experience.”

While the graphical beauty and detail of Assassin’s Creed is quite evident visually, the music takes on the same level of precision and attention. Each setting within the game has its own theme and distinct musical identity, ranging from the tragedy-stricken city of Acre to the proud stoic stronghold of Damascus to the powerfully spiritual and multicultural capital of Jerusalem.

“I was inspired by the deep and engaging world of Assassin’s Creed and working with the visionary team at Ubisoft Montreal was a fantastic experience,” said Jesper Kyd. “It was truly refreshing to be given so much creative freedom for such a high-profile blockbuster title and I believe we took it to the max.”

Assassin’s Creed to benefit from delay of Grand Theft Auto IV

Posted in Assassin's Creed News  by Haven 1 Comment

With the release date of GTA IV pushed back to Spring of 2008, several key games including our favorite, Assassin’s Creed, will fill the gap for gamers (and extract cash from their wallets). Rockstar Games announced that development delays had led to the new date and that it had nothing to do with the fact that Assassin’s Creed will humiliate the GTA franchise by seriously mopping up the floor with it (editor’s notes added).
