Assassin’s Creed has been out for several months now, and it’s a shame that many of the Assassin’s Creed fans have nothing left to do but play the same game over and over again. We’ve already seen other games, like Mass Effect, release Downloadable Content.. so why haven’t we heard of anything about Assassin’s Creed DLC? Is it because the game is multi-platform? Is it because Ubi is slacking? Or is it because there would be nothing of substance to add in a DLC?

If you actually look no the game box, it doesn’t say Downloadable Content… so I don’t think we’ll end up seeing something. But why not give us fans something to keep us busy until Assassin’s Creed 2 comes out. It doesn’t even have to be a new explorable city (although that would be awesome). How about new weapons or clothes, or hell… even a new horse? Just give us something!

It’s hard to believe that in 2008 games are still being made without the possibility for DLC.

One of the most annoying aspects of Assassin’s Creed are the beggars. They’re freaking everywhere! You can’t walk through a city without having 20 beggars approach you asking for money. Sometimes I just want to take out my sword and murder them right on the spot. It especially pisses me off when I’m running away from the guards and a stupid beggar runs into me and it knocks me down.

The only thing beggars are used for is an achievement… “Enemy of the Poor” Acheivement. But once you have that accomplished you can do whatever you want to them. Try punching them or throwing them through merchant stands. It will definitely make you feel better. Just be sure you are in position to run away from the guards should they see you.

This is one thing I would like to see reduced in Assassin’s Creed… the amount of beggars and drunks!

All Xbox 360 games have achievements. By performing certain tasks in a game you can earn Achievement points and show off to your friends what you have accomplished. Assassin’s Creed has many achievements that Xbox 360 gamers should strive for. Below is a list of everything you can work for. If you thought you already beat Assassin’s Creed, take a look at this list and you might be surprised at what you’ve missed.

Absolute Symbiosis - 45 points.
Have a complete Synchronization bar.

Blade in the Crowd - 30 points.
Kill one of your main targets like a true assassin.

Conversationalist - 20 points.
Go through every dialog with Lucy.

Defender of the People: Acre - 20 points.
Complete every free mission in Acre.

Defender of the People: Damascus - 20 points.
Complete every free mission in Damascus.

Defender of the People: Jerusalem - 20 points.
Complete every free mission in Jerusalem.

Disciple of the Creed - 30 points.
Assassinate all your targets with a full DNA bar.

While browsing the Assassin’s Creed forum, I cam across a post by jason.mohr. He says that he did not put the horse there, and you can tell by the pictures that there are no areas from him to have jumped from to get the horse there. This poor horse is stuck at the top of a guard tower.

Gamers are always looking for tips on how to improve their skills. In this post I wanted to give you a couple of Assassin’s Creed combat tips to help you become the ultimate assassin.

Hidden blade counters - If u counter while using the hidden blade you will get an instant kill against any target. This works wonders against those annoying guards.

Quick attacks and slow attacks - If you attack a guard when you are closer to him than you will perform a faster attack than if you had attacked from farther away. The trick is to sneak up on a guard to get that quick strike.

Power attack - If you make a powerful attack (hold attack button) from far away than your attack will be stronger and might break through the defense of a common guard. It has a higher chance of hitting.

Side dodge - This is a fun tip if you don’t like just standing there taking a beating. You can dodge to the sides and not just backwards. I think it may be slightly faster when attacking.

One of the reasons a lot of gamers buy games for consoles is because they don’t have powerful enough computers to handle new games. Me being one of them. Who wants to buy a new graphics card and more RAM every time a game comes out?

Assassin’s Creed will be a pretty graphic intense computer game, although not as intense as something like WoW or Guild Wars. So before you go out and buy it, check the specs and make sure your PC can handle it.

After playing Assassin’s Creed for awhile, you’ll get the hang of several different ways to kill Altair. There aren’t many times when you would want him to die, so these are more like accidents, but can happen quite often if you rush things.

One of the silly ways I always die is after I climb a tower, synchronize, then leap right onto the concrete floor. Instead of jumping into the hay stack, I’ll sometimes rush things and jump slightly to the side and miss the hay stack. It’s a 1000 ft drop to your death in just a few seconds.

Another way I die is when I’m running from the guards and miss a jump and land right in the water. I think it’s funny that Altair or any of the citizens can’t go in the water. It’s like an instant death for them.

The trick to not dying is to not rush things. If you plan everything out and carefully execute, then you won’t die.

It’s very rare for a game to be as successful as Assassin’s Creed nowadays with no multiplayer support. I hardly ever buy single play games anymore… Assassin’s Creed being the exception. I’m not sure if it’s something Ubisoft will even consider for Assassin’s Creed 2. But I thought it would be fun to toss out a couple of multiplater ideas and pretend that one day this game could be played with others.

Scenario 1
You and 3 friends join up an online game and have to work together to perform the perfect assassination

Scenario 2
Guards vs. Assassins. It would pretty much be a 4v4 team melee. Guards would have arrows and swords, while Assassins would have their swords and knives. It wouldn’t be one hit and you’re dead… you’d have to do some serious sword battles and possibly escape tough situations.

Scenario 3
One person is the assassin and the other 4-5 people in the online game are the guards trying to protect someone from being assassinated.

That’s pretty much all I could think of off the top of my head. If anyone has any multiplayer ideas, feel free to post a comment.

As you know, Assassin’s Creed is headed to PC in April. The game will be almost a straight port from the console version, but also have a few slight differences. To help better understand what’s new and what’s been changed in Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft released a Q&A with Charles Beauchemin, Assassin’s Creed developer. He details the four new investigation types (archer assassination, rooftop race challenge, merchant stand destruction challenge and escort challenge), system requirements, guards AI and more.

In your opinion, what is the average machine needed to play the game ?

Any dual-core machine running at 2.2GHz and over with a decent graphic card (such as a ATi HD2600 or a NVidia 8600) will give great performances.

Our minimum requirement is a Pentium D 2.4GHz or a AMD X2 Athlon 3800+, equipped with a Shader Model 3.0 card (ATi X1300 and better, NVidia 6600 and better).

How are the X360 achievements translated to the PC version ?

You can still collect flags and templars but there is no achievement in the PC version.

It’s been said quite a few times that the AI on guards and on the crowd was not always as “ideal” as promised : have you managed to, improve this on the PC version ?

We modified the reaction of guards in certain occasions. Blending when close to a dead body doesn’t work anymore; guards will spot you if you stay too close. Also, the reaction of the guards to stealth assassination is now based on the number of NPC around you making it more realistic. If there is no one around you, guards will spot you much faster and if the crowd is bigger, you won’t be spotted that fast.

I just spent some time creating three new Assassin’s Creed Wallpapers. They come in three different sizes, 1600×1200, 1280×960, and 1024×768. If you need them in a smaller size, you can just open them in any photo editing software and resize it yourself.

The new wallpapers use the standard Assassin’s Creed background, but with different images of Altair. It’s a classic look with a new feel. I really like them, so feel free to comment on this post and give me your opinion. Here’s a sample of one of them:

There is a rumor going around that Assassin’s Creed 2 has been confirmed through a survey. Filefront.com has posted the following information on their website:

I’m labeling this a rumor because it hasn’t been announced yet, but anyone who played Assassin’s Creed to its anti-climactic finish could probably guess that Ubisoft was already looking at a sequel (or two, as other rumors have it). But people who took a random opinion survey may have received confirmation of a sequel. The survey asked people questions concerning what they liked about the first game and what features they might like to see in next game. At the end of the survey, they were then informed that their opinions would be used in designing “the next Assassin’s Creed.” Hopefully they really take these opinions seriously, since the last game had kind of mixed reviews.

While I have not completed the survey, maybe some of the readers here have? That would be awesome if Ubisoft was getting the fan’s opinions on what to include in the game before they start development. Although I am kind of worried that if development hasn’t started yet, then they game might not be out for long time (end 2009?)

I’m not sure why the developers left out a kill count in Assassin’s Creed. Wouldn’t it have been fun to know exactly how many guards or templars you’ve killed. It could also show your number of assassinations and your weapon of choice. It’s a cool feature that I’d love to see in Assassin’s Creed 2.

It wouldn’t have to be an option you see at all times, but it would definitely add to the fun factor of the game. You could pause the game and check your kill count, then resume play and just run around killing guards when you’re bored. Instead of running from them all the time, you could kill them.

Do you think the lack of subtitles in Assassin’s Creed hurts the gameplay? While Assassin’s Creed is not a true RPG, it does have RPG elements and most role playing games (such as Bioware’s Mass Effect) offer an option for subtitles. Subtitles are not only for deaf people, but can be beneficial to people who like to get into the story. Sometimes it’s easier to read than to hear, or maybe for some reason you can’t play your game with sound.

A quick Google search revealed that developers said that subtitle was removed due to new game engine and multiple people talking at same time but I think that they’re pretty weak excuses as you could easily program the game to only display subtitle during cut-scenes & important moments.

Of course there are memory logs to display information in case you forget, but those aren’t always helpful. The main purpose for subtitles is so you can better follow the game and enjoy the experience if there is something else going on in the house. This isn’t an action packed game like H3 Online where you don’t need sound. There is a complex story to Assassin’s Creed. Try playing it on mute for a few minutes and see how well you do.

I just read this morning on Forbes.com that Assassin’s Creed is headed to PC by the end of this quarter. That is great news for fans of the game who do not have a PS3 or Xbox 360. I don’t have a lot of details yet. I’m sure there will be some added features and content that the console games do not have. Once we get more info, I’ll be sure to let you guys know.
