Assassinate Robert de Sable

This is one of the hardest assassination missions in the game. You can spend a couple hours doing this and still come up short. There will be wave after wave of foes before you finally reach the real Robert de Sable. Unfortunately, there is no way around it. You must fight, and you must win.

I’ve read one suggestion online that says:

The easiest thing to do is get out the hidden blade and counter one of them.
Although it is difficult and the timing is strict, once you nail one of them at least one of the other guards should back away in fear, letting you simply jump onto him with the wrist blade.

For every kill one of the guards should react like this, so you can easily combo most of the guards down using this little tactic…

I’ve read another that recommends you fight, then just keep running in circles until your health regenerates.

If you’re still having trouble, check out this video below. It may give you a better idea of how to accomplish this mission.

Map of the Guards

Posted in Gameplay  by Haven No Comments

After you complete certain quests in Assassin’s Creed, the NPCs will say, “Here take a map of where guards will be stationed.” I’ve come across several people asking how to access this map so I thought I would write a quick post about it. To get to your map of the guards you need to access your additional memories. Go in your memory log and click view attachment. It’s quite easy to find it.

Now, whether or not you will actually use the map of the guards is another question. I never used it on my first play through, but did find it useful when just running around having fun. Some people think looking at the map is like “cheating” because you know where all the guards are stationed. Instead, I’d rather keep the realism in Assassin’s Creed and be surprised.

Get More Throwing Knives

Posted in Gameplay  by Haven 1 Comment

In Assassin’s Creed it is possible to run out of throwing knives. It makes the game more realistic by limited the number of throwing knives Altair can carry at any given time. If you’re stuck running around in the world of Assassin’s Creed and you have no more throwing knives, here are a few tips to get more.

Pickpocket a thug. You will notice these guys while running around. They have knives strapped to their bodies. Just pickpocket them like any other side mission you’ve done.

Bureaus. Go to any of the Bureaus before an assassination and you will have your throwing knives replenished.

That’s really all there is too it. I have heard of so many gamers not knowing what to do to get more knives. They’ll run all the way back to Masyaf when really that isn’t necessary. Stay tuned for more Assassin’s Creed tips.

Funny Kills in Assassin’s Creed

Posted in Gameplay  by Haven No Comments

Assassin’s Creed gives gamers the freedom to assassinate game characters in several different ways. Below is a list I gathered of some gamers funniest kills while playing Assassin’s Creed.

“Every time I throw a knife at a guy near the edge of a building, and he sways on the spot for a moment, then falls off the side into the street. There’s nothing like the sense of satisfaction you get when you hear the screams of citizens behind you fleeing in terror as you leap away over the rooftops.”

“Walking along the docks in Acre, I used a gentle push move which caused a random civilian to back away from me, right over the edge of the dock. It’s hilarious to watch him flail his arms around as he tips over the edge and drowns. This also causes everyone else to run around panicking, bumping into each other and falling into the water themselves”

“Throwing people into the water.”

“My funniest kill was when I threw one of the guards off the church in acre, he didn’t die, I jumped down after him and just saw his voice turn into a girls voice and say “could you spare some money?” then I laughed for a sec and chased him till I got to him.”

Assassin’s Creed Pickpocketing Tips

Posted in Gameplay  by Haven No Comments

Pickpocketing in Assassin’s Creed can be quite a pain at times. If you start following the person too quickly, he’ll warn you off. If you don’t start following quick enough then you won’t catch up because you both walk at the same speed. There are no practice areas for pickpocketing, so you’ll have to do it live in the streets.

The main things to watch is your target looking around while you follow him. Pick pocketing while guards are around will arouse suspicion and cause chaos.

Lock onto your target, slowly walk towards him, make sure he is not looking around and then get as close as possible and hit the Pick Pocket button/key. Altair needs to get his hand as close to the persons pocket as possible. Once it tells you your success, then quickly move away.

If you see the person stop walking, you need to stop too. This means that he is almost alert of you trying to pickpocket him. Just simply stop and wait for him to start moving again.

It does take a lot of practice, so don’t get frustrated if you fail the first few times.

The Funeral Assassination

SPOILER ALERT!

A lot of people have trouble with the last assassination at the funeral. It’s a tough kill to make and you’ll probably die 5 times just trying to figure things out. So I browsed the Assassin’s Creed forums and took some of the best tips for beating this part of the game. Here they are:

There are many ways. The easiest for me was to just keep attacking everyone until you are lucky enough to kill your target. If you focus on just that specific target then everyone else will kill you.

The archers there are the most annoying…jerks…in the game. I recommend alerting everyone at the funeral, then get them to chase you through the city to a predetermined location where you have a group of vigilantes waiting in ambush. Then, as the vigilantes distract the guards, you can kill ‘em all!

My method was stand in one of the corners that you face at the funeral. The guards won’t be able to attack you from behind and the archers will be able to shoot you less. Then it’s just a case of heavy attacking and countering all the guards until you get to the target. Don’t even bother about getting the archers unless you want the (i think there is one) achievement for killing loads of guards.

It’s a whole lot easier if you take out as many archers as you can -before- the fight. Then, as some of the others said, go get in a corner or near a wall somewhere. There’s a scaffold to the north of the area- get some guards near it and then throw one in to make it collapse and kill as many in one shot as you can (if you didn’t already know of this). Keep countering, and if you see you’ve knocked down ‘Robert,’ quickly switch the hidden blade and try to hit ‘em for a quick finish.

If you can’t beat Assassin’s Creed after this, then get a Game Genie :-)

Assassin’s Creed Combat Tips

Gamers are always looking for tips on how to improve their skills. In this post I wanted to give you a couple of Assassin’s Creed combat tips to help you become the ultimate assassin.

Hidden blade counters - If u counter while using the hidden blade you will get an instant kill against any target. This works wonders against those annoying guards.

Quick attacks and slow attacks - If you attack a guard when you are closer to him than you will perform a faster attack than if you had attacked from farther away. The trick is to sneak up on a guard to get that quick strike.

Power attack - If you make a powerful attack (hold attack button) from far away than your attack will be stronger and might break through the defense of a common guard. It has a higher chance of hitting.

Side dodge - This is a fun tip if you don’t like just standing there taking a beating. You can dodge to the sides and not just backwards. I think it may be slightly faster when attacking.

If you have any cool combat tips, please be sure to comment on this post and share!

Silly Altair Deaths

After playing Assassin’s Creed for awhile, you’ll get the hang of several different ways to kill Altair. There aren’t many times when you would want him to die, so these are more like accidents, but can happen quite often if you rush things.

One of the silly ways I always die is after I climb a tower, synchronize, then leap right onto the concrete floor. Instead of jumping into the hay stack, I’ll sometimes rush things and jump slightly to the side and miss the hay stack. It’s a 1000 ft drop to your death in just a few seconds.

Another way I die is when I’m running from the guards and miss a jump and land right in the water. I think it’s funny that Altair or any of the citizens can’t go in the water. It’s like an instant death for them.

The trick to not dying is to not rush things. If you plan everything out and carefully execute, then you won’t die.
