A Crime to Ride Your Horse
Posted in Assassin's Creed Discussion by Haven
Why is it a crime in the Assassins Creed world to ride a horse in the open space? The second you get on a horse and gallop around some guards they immediately yell “Kill the Assassin!”
Don’t you think that Altair should be able to ride around on a horse without getting harassed by the guards. It makes the game annoying. I just want to be able to travel from city to city in as little time possible. I don’t want to have to slow my horse down every minute because there is a group of guards.
What do you think about it?

Just ride through O_o
If you go fast enough (running some over in the process, hehe) they lose sight of you, and theres always a haystack somewhere along the road to hide in until you’re anonymous.
I agree, it is pretty annoying though.

most of the time its just suspicious when you run by at full speed. in real life, a full speed running horse draws more attention then a silently stepping one or am i wrong?

All the soldiers in the world map are, for some reason, permanently locked in suspicious-mode. The horse has nothing to do with it, being on foot won’t prevent them attacking you almost immediately. The horse does make it worse however, and the explanation for that is simple… see anyone else riding a horse in that game? Even if you’re just trotting, you’re the one guy on horseback in a world full of people on foot. They’re already suspicious… being on a horse just makes you even more noticeable to their already-suspicious eyes.
I suppose you could explain their constant alertness as being due to the ongoing war between the salahadin and the crusaders, and their being outside of the cities where there are no walls to protect them. It’s never bothered me though… there’s no need to slow down, or get off and fight, or anything like that.
Simple solution: When you come galloping by and they yell “GET HIM!” and give chase… keep galloping. You can gallop clear across the entire map without stopping once, just the same as if they had ignored you like you wish they would. It makes no difference.
