Assassin’s Creed II Health System

I’ve been reading mixed reviews on the new health system implemented for Assassin’s Creed II. Gone are the days from Assassin’s Creed where you just hide in a well and you regain all your health. In my opinion it was a bit too easy and not that realistic.

For AC2, Ubisoft has used the health system from Far Cry 2. Basically you will only regain part of your health by hiding, then you will need to purchase first aid kits or visit a doctor to build back full health. It might be more annoying if you suck and constantly have to go heal up, but this adds more realism to the game and I like it.

What’s your take on the new health system?

I don’t see how it’s more realistic, because in real life you naturally heal. You don’t go “buy” health to replenish yourself. I just see it as a pesk having to go get health all the time. Like in GTA4, your experience gets limited because you start a mission with only 75% health or something unexpected happens and you’re screwed because you can’t get more health.

As for no hud, the one in the trailer looks cheap, just showing throwing knife ammo. I thought the first game’s hud was fine, maybe some work but having it fade away once done would be fine.

We don’t want too many things changes from the original, it may not even be the same series then.

I know this is an old post but I just had to say it. The new health system pisses me off! I understand where the developers might be coming from on this point and I can also see the whole “old system was too easy” argument but I’m the type of player that when you give me a freeform world I’m going to explore it to death. Which means jumping off buildings and falling… and lossing health that I have to pay 50f to regain… its easier just to die or desync. Like I just want to have a little fun before I go on missions and this way ruins that part for me. I don’t want to go spend money when I’m falling off buildings from accidentally not catching a ledge or other such minor details. Its easier to die and when its easier to die there’s something to be said there.
